Art Exhibition at Riverside Studios

Among the blooming heather of the Danish moorlands you can see the mares graze peacefully while their week old foals snooze. Look over and you see the yearlings playfully nip and chase one another, and the band leaders sternly guide their mares back home. I spent a summer weekend observing, learning about, and photographing wild Exmoor ponies. This exhibition is an ode to those horses and their authentic lives, and an invitation to connect with others who have found solace in a horses’ presence. It will take place from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Saturday June 13th at Riverside Studios in Asheville North Carolina’s River Arts District.

Amidst the

Wild Ones

This exhibition offers collectors, horse lovers, and members of the Asheville community an opportunity to experience a body of work rooted in close observation, biological and behavioral informed study, and a deep appreciation for the wild and heritage horse populations found in Denmark. It also offers a welcoming space to experience artwork inspired by my firsthand observation of both Wild Exmoor ponies and Konik Stallions while fostering conversation between artists, collectors, and the local community. Visitors will have the opportunity to speak directly with the artist about my experiences, process, and inspiration. Designed as a relaxed, drop-in event with light Danish-inspired refreshments, guests are invited to move at their own pace through a collection of paintings, pencil drawings, and photographs accompanied by my written reflections. In addition, guests can connect with others who share an interest in horses, art, and nature while engaging with work that reflects both scientific curiosity and emotional connection. The original works will be available for purchase, along with a limited run of selected fine-art prints.

These meaningful connections and conversations will be achieved by combining original artwork, artist interaction, written reflections, and a relaxed gallery setting. “There is something so magically beyond words to be allowed to witness and document a moment in these ponies' lives, and I am so excited to share that with you!” - Alithea Williams
