Behind the Trees

This is probably my favorite picture from the whole weekend. I knew I wanted to get a shot of one of the ponies framed by branches of some kind. We saw the band of ponies we had been watching walk into the trees, so with that image in my mind, we followed them along the tree-line at a distance. As they walked through the trees grazing and scratching themselves against the branches, I took a few pictures, but they weren’t quite what I was looking for. They started walking out of the woods away from us and we followed. Then it happened. They were no longer in the woods, but there were still trees and branches in front of us. After a few minutes, I got it! The shot I had envisioned all morning. I felt so honored and excited to be able to capture such a great image.
